Cosmetic Facial Microneedling
What is microneedling?
Microneedling is a safe, minimally invasive treatment that involves the use of very fine needles to create micro-wounds in the epidermis (upper layer of the skin). This stimulates your skin’s natural healing response by increasing the production of collagen and elastin.
Benefits of Microneedling include:
- Diminished appearance of scars
- Brighter complexion
- More even skin tone and texture
- Reduced acne scars and sun-spors
- Reduced wrinkles and pores
- Reduced cellulite
- Restored elasticity
This treatment begins with the application of numbing cream, which is left on for 20-30 minutes. Once the patient’s skin is numb, Dr. Joanne Day will remove the remaining numbing cream and apply a thin layer of bioactive agents to the skin.
Dr. Day begins making passes over each area with the PRPen. The microneedles create micro-wounds that help the absorption of the bioactive agents into the epidermis. The absorption of these agents into the skin help with the anti-aging benefits of the treatment. The entire treatment takes about 1 hour.
After the treatment, the patient may notice redness that can last up to 2 days and dry skin that can last for 2-7 days. Patients should avoid direct sunlight and heat during that time. It is recommended that treatments be done once a month for 3-5 treatments or until the desired results are achieved.
